Le village de Hauterives est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 une cinquantaine de kilom\u00e8tres au nord de Valence, le chef-lieu de la Dr\u00f4me. C’est l\u00e0 que se trouve une \u0153uvre d’art unique au monde cr\u00e9\u00e9e par celui qu’on nomme \u00ab\u00a0Le Facteur Cheval\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Ferdinand Cheval (1836 \u2013 1924)\u00a0 est n\u00e9 dans une modeste famille d’agriculteurs. Il quitta l’\u00e9cole \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de 12 ans pour travailler aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de son p\u00e8re. Pendant quelque temps il f\u00fbt aussi apprenti boulanger avant de devenir le facteur de la commune.<\/p>\n

Bien que traversant des temps difficiles, gr\u00e2ce au courrier qu’il distribuait Ferdinand Cheval prit conscience du monde qui l’entourait. \u00ab\u00a0Qu’avait-il d’autre \u00e0 faire pour s’occuper en faisant toujours sa m\u00eame ronde quotidienne sinon de r\u00eaver\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb Il se mit \u00e0 laisser courir son imagination en construisant dans ses r\u00eaves un merveilleux palais. Il n’en resta pas l\u00e0. Passant \u00e0 l’acte il entreprit la t\u00e2che colossale de le construire dans la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Son \u0153uvre qu’il baptisa son \u00ab\u00a0palais id\u00e9al\u00a0\u00bb est aujourd’hui mondialement connu et figure parmi les monuments historiques de l’art na\u00eff.<\/p>\n

L’oevre imminament etrange est unique en son genre et attire quelques 200.000 visiteurs chaque annee.<\/p>\n
